Is it hard to find high school science teacher jobs?

Not generally. While the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics doesn't break out data on science teachers specifically, it projects about 64,000 high school teacher openings each year through 2033 due to retirements and career changes. Since science is a core subject, many of these positions are expected to include high school science teacher jobs, especially in high-demand areas like chemistry and physics.

Are middle school science teacher jobs readily available?

Yes. The BLS projects roughly 41,400 openings for middle school teachers annually through 2033, largely due to retirements and career changes. Because science is part of the core curriculum, there is consistent demand for middle school science teacher jobs in most districts.
